De Anza College student Natasha Sahu maintains a busy lifestyle juggling full-time school and being an active member of the track team.

Sahu joined the De Anza track team during the fall quarter of 2007, aiming to keep in shape and participate in college level competition.

"My favorite events are the 4x1 and the high jump. I love the relay races and high jumps always fascinated me," Sahu said.

"The meets are very intense. Everyone is cheering and supporting each other, encouraging the athletes to compete their best."

Sahu attended St. Lawrence Academy for high school and lives in Sunnyvale. She is a communications major, currently enrolled in 20 quarter units.

Her future aspirations include transferring to UC San Diego and attending graduate school on the East Coast.

After college, Sahu hopes to become a news anchor, and possibly a sportscaster.

Her commitment to athletics occasionally makes it difficult to juggle other important areas of her life, such as her spiritual and social life.

"I am a Christian and I pray and read the Bible … but haven't gone to church in a long time," she said. "Hopefully when track season ends, I will start going to church every Sunday again."

In her free time, she enjoys Italian food with friends and playing with her black Labrador puppy, Raja, but "having track meets every weekend makes it hard to see my friends," Sahu said.
